Davis Bertans is Struggling

When the Wizards signed Davis Bertans this offseason, they thought they were getting a guy that was going to contribute is a major way. To say he has had a slow start is quite the understatement. Recently, he has been as cold as someone with a pulse can be.

Over his past nine games, Bertans has cracked double digits three times and never gone for more than 12 points. In three of those games, he has taken at least 10 three-point attempts so it’s not like he is being passed over for opportunities. He is just missing shots.

Bertans is the type of player that can get going at any moment. We’ve seen him in the past get hot and hit three after three. Just last week he nailed four long range bombs in 12 minutes. Even with that barrage, he finished that game with 12 points.

Bertans is not a guy that’s going to do much in the way of peripheral statistics. So far this season, he has neither grabbed more than six rebounds in a game nor dished out more than three assists.

In fact, in his last nine games, he has had two where he failed to pull down even one rebound. In that span he’s even worse in the assist metric as he has only recorded four and never more than one in a single game. This is not a situation to take the over for Bertans in the points-rebounds-assists market.

The Pick: Davis Bertans Under 18.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-111)

Bertans Does Work Behind Arc

It’s no secret that Bertans is a three-ball guy. That’s why the Wizards signed him to a 5-year, $80 million contract in free agency. His role seems to be that of a guy that just stands behind the three-point line and chucks up a three whenever he feels like he is open.

The issue is, Bertans has been off this season. He’s a career 40% three-point shooter and this year he is barely above 30%. At home, he is a dismal 27.4% from behind the arc. This does not feel like a great spot for him to make four or more three-point attempts.

The Pick: Davis Bertans Under 3.5 Three Pointers Made (-113)
