For the second year in a row we will not have the 25k High Roller full of hopeful Platinum Pass winners.
The PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) has been postponed, just as it was last year.
The tournament was set to take place in Barcelona but with COVID cases surging in both Spain and mainland Europe right now, the event was not viable this summer.
With the exception of events in Sochi and parts of the US, no operator has dared to even schedule a makor live poker tournament yet despite the positivity surrounding COVID vaccines. The Irish Open, usually scheduled for next week, is taking place online this year and all Unibet Open events will take place online in 2021. Even the World Series of Poker does not look like it will happen this summer, but some sort of festival is expected later in the year.
The PSPC in particular does not feel like a tournament that would lend itself well to an online version. It really was about the camaradarie and underdog stories that could only really work in a live setting.
Platinum Passes are still being won at PokerStars for the event when it eventually takes place, with 400 of them set to be awarded to the tournament.
