Brazil has long been a country that has done its best to terrify US women’s national team fans, even if their actual win-loss record against them is spotty at best. But there’s always a hint of what if this time Marta does that thing? Or, of late, what if this time Debinha goes full Debinha? There were other problems of note that popped up in watching Brazil beat Argentina: their commitment to keeping two fast forwards relatively high for the chance at a direct counter, their goalkeeper Aline Reis having some good hands and decent distribution, their ability to stay wide but slash inside through multiple midfielders. The upside is that they were playing against a relatively slow Argentina, and that just won’t be the case (we hope) against the United States.
