Yanks Abroad: A Daryl Dike Double

The Americans were back with their club teams this weekend after the international break. Several players were rested or came off the bench, but the United States Men’s National Team pool of players still racked up six goals and an assist.

Daryl Dike obviously leads the way because this man is absolutely on fire! Just look at that goal below, he cannot be stopped right now. That is, unless it’s a penalty kick. He had a chance for the hat trick, but his attempt from the spot was saved. But the two goals were enough to get the 2-1 win over Luton Town. The 20-year-old now has seven goals in 13 matches since going on loan to Barnsley, who are now sitting in 5th place.

After scoring with the USMNT vs Northern Ireland, Christian Pulisic returned to Chelsea full of confidence. He scored and played well in the first half vs West Brom, but did not return for the second half. Then everything fell apart for Chelsea who fell 5-2 against the 19th place team in the Premier League.

Pulisic was hacked down to earn a free kick in a dangerous spot, and then he was there to knock home the rebound to open the scoring.

When Pulisic ran on the pitch after halftime, he knew his tweaked hamstring wouldn’t let him continue and a change was made. Here’s to hoping another setback doesn’t keep him sidelined for too long.

Hallescher FC called on Terrence Boyd to come off the bench and spark a comeback, which he did after just one minute. It was Boyd’s 11th goal in 20 matches this season. However, a ten-man Kaiserslautern team scored another two goals to secure the 3-1 win.

Sebastian Saucedo got a goal on Saturday to help dull the pain from the US U-23’s failure to qualify for the Olympics. He entered the match in the 80th minute with his team down 2-0 and scored in the 90th minute. Pumas would also get another stoppage time goal to steal a point at the death from Pachuca.

28-year-old Jan George scored his fourth goal of 2. Bundesliga season to earn the 1-1 draw for Jahn Regensburg vs Erzgebirge Aue. He opened the scoring in the fifth minute and they led all the way until conceding the equalizer in the 85th.

Over in Austria, Brenden Aaronson recorded a gorgeous assist in a 3-1 RB Salzburg win over Sturm Graz. The win keeps them on top of the Championship group and in a good spot to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
