UFC president Dana White sees potential greatness in UFC contract winner Michael Morales.
Michael Morales has a ton of potential, and UFC president Dana White knows it. Following his dominant performance over Nikolay Veretennikov on Dana White’s Contender Series, Morales not only earned a UFC contract but also a lot of praise from White.
Morales showcased powerful striking to go with a solid ground game which is surprising for someone as young as he is. During his DWCS Week 4 post-fight press conference, White explained why he feels so strongly about the up-and-comer Morales.
“He’s 22 years old, normally I wouldn’t take a kid that young. But he’s 12-0. He came to win tonight,” White said. “I seriously see signs of possible greatness with this kid. If he can keep it all together, what’s he going to look like when he’s 27, 28 years old?”
“He’s one of the most impressive guys to ever come through the show. When you have his type of mindset, the sky is the limit.”
Morales earned the attention of White after earning four straight knockouts before the DWCS bout against Veretennikov. Morales has nine knockouts during his career and is known as a matchup nightmare for his opponents.

Morales already trains with some of the best in the UFC, including flyweight champion Brandon Moreno at Entram Gym. He could make his UFC debut soon after such an impressive outing in the octagon.
White may have a future welterweight star in Morales, and it’s only a matter of time until we see whether or not his praises are warranted.
