CSK vs DC in IPL 2021 LIVE Score – Rishabh Pant wins toss, asks MS Dhoni’s CSK to bat first: It is the teacher vs student in the 2nd match of the IPL 2021 as MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings take on Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the crucial toss, Pant trumped Dhoni and opted to bowl first considering the due factor and softness of the wicket.

DC, depleted with three first-team players in quarantine and regular skipper Shreyas Iyer out of the tournament due to shoulder injury, will have a selection headache. As for CSK, they will have to mull over the opening combination.

“We will bowl first. The wicket looks a bit soft. I will be a mix of youth and experience, have done a bit of captaincy in 2017, but my first IPL game. Four overseas players – Hetmyer, Stoinis, Woakes, Tom Curran. We aren’t playing in Delhi, so think it’s working fine,” Pant said after the toss.

Dhoni said he would have opted to bowl first as well. “We were also looking to bowl, it’s slightly difficult to defend on this ground. Dew could be a factor, but it’s cloudy today, so it might not be a factor. The combination looks good, some of the overseas players turned up late, some are in quarantine, but we are ready to go,” he said.

CSK Playing XI vs DC in IPL 2021: CSK looks considerably more stable compared to the previous year, with the return of Suresh Raina and the addition of few players at the auctions. However, it has also put them in a Catch-22 situation. Chennai’s biggest headache going into the CSK vs DC game on April 10 would be what will be their “right opening combination”.

IPL 2021: What will be the opening pair for CSK vs DC game?

Chennai would be a happy side as they boast a plethora of opening batsmen. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa and Faf du Plessis fight for the opening pair slots in Chennai playing XI.

Until last year, Shane Watson CSK’s opening mainstay, while his partner kept changing which caused a lot of instability in the top-order. The regular changes made it hard for the openers to settle down in their roles. As a result, CSK’s middle-order got exposed too soon.

Option 3: Robin Uthappa

It is this new signing of Chennai this year that has actually spiced up the competition. Uthappa for the majority of his IPL career played as an opener and would love to return to his favourite position. His best as No.1 came in 2014, where he scored 660 runs to help Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) win the IPL title.
