Ind vs Eng 3rd Test: Check India and England’s record in Pink ball Test ahead of Day/Night Test in Ahmedabad

Ind vs Eng 3rd Test: Check India and England’s record in Pink ball Test ahead of Day/Night Test in Ahmedabad- India will take on England in their first-ever Day/Night pink-ball Test at the Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad from February 24. For England, it will be their fourth match with the pink cherry. In the newest avatar of Test cricket, England have won only one match while losing the other two — to Australia and New Zealand — both away. India, so far, have a mixed record, winning and losing one match each.

India made a winning start in their Day/Night Test journey, thrashing Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2019. In their second pink ball Test, India suffered a crushing eight-wicket defeat to hosts Australia in 2020.

As for England, they cruised to an innings and 209-run victory over visitors West Indies in 2017. But in their last two pink-ball Tests — both away — the Lions have lost both. They lost to hosts Australia by 120 runs while they suffered a humiliating defeat to hosts New Zealand by an innings and 49 runs.

Australia men’s team have been the most successful in Day/Night cricket. Out of a total of 15 Day/Night Tests so far, Australia have maintained a perfect record, playing eight — all at home — winning all of them. After Australia, Pakistan have played Day/Night Test the most, four times. They have won only one and lost two. Apart from England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, West Indies, and Pakistan have played three each.

The interesting fact about the Day/Night Test is that every match has produced a result. However, England have recorded the biggest margin of victory so far, beating West Indies at home by an innings and 209 runs. Australia have the lowest margin of win in their victory over visitors Pakistan by just 39 runs.
