Will Motera witness end to Kohli’s unusual century drought?
The right-handed batsman has failed to reach three-figure mark since the last Pink-ball Test in India [ Eden Gardens]. He has scored just 261 runs in his last 10 Test innings. Virat Kohli is not out of form but he has been unlucky. The Indian captain is expected to come all guns blazing in the historic pink-ball Test at the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad. If Kohli misses out on his ton then he will equal an unwanted record of the second-longest run without a Test century.
At the start of his career, Kohli took 13 innings to smash his maiden hundred. In 2015, he smashed his ton after a gap of 11 innings. One of the biggest positive of his international career is Kohli’s ability to convert the fifties into 100s that makes him a match-winner.
The India fans will want Kohli to play a vital role in helping the side enter the ICC Test Championship Final in the next two Tests. India’s fate depends on the four-match Test series between India and England. The series is currently level 1-1 after the hosts won the second Test by 317 runs.
