Oklahoma football fans would love to see Tulsa native Gentry Williams suit up for the Sooners.
2022 five-star athlete Gentry Williams would sure look good in crimson and cream playing for Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma football team.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Williams is the No. 1 player from Oklahoma, the No. 2 athlete in the country and the No. 19 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class. The Tulsa native has 18 official offers, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma. He is projected to end up in Norman by all 247Sports staff, who have evaluated him and made a bold prediction.
Oklahoma must get the best player in-state to commit to them for 2022
Even though the Sooners are the preeminent program in Big 12 country, Oklahoma must secure its borders to keep its best in-state talent from going elsewhere, or even up the road to Stillwater. There is not as much top-tier talent in the Sooner State for the Sooners as exists for other Power 5 blue-bloods, but Oklahoma does just fine messing with the fertile recruiting state that is Texas.
No matter what position Williams plays at the college level, you can never overlook what gaining a five-star athlete’s commitment can do for a program. Essentially, you are trusting your coaching staff to put a player of his caliber in the best position to succeed. So if Oklahoma wants to start winning national semifinal games, the Sooners must obtain commitments from guys like Williams.
At this juncture, Oklahoma has to be the overwhelming favorite to land Williams in the 2022 cycle.
