Raptors’ McCaw to return vs. Timberwolves; Lowry, Anunoby out

The Toronto Raptors will have Patrick McCaw back in their lineup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, but Kyle Lowry‘s return will have to wait a while longer.

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said McCaw, who has yet to appear in a game this season after undergoing surgery to remove a mass from his left knee in August, is going to be eased back into the rotation on a 15-20 minutes playing-time restriction.

McCaw averaged 4.6 points, 2.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 37 appearances for the Raptors last season.

A more definitive answer on when Lowry will return from a sprained left thumb is still a couple days away, Nurse said. The initial timeline the team provided had him missing at least two games.

Lowry injured his thumb, the same one that he had surgery on after Toronto’s 2019 championship run, in the first quarter of Tuesday’s 124-113 win in Milwaukee. He stayed in the game before leaving in the third quarter with a sore ankle.

In 25 games played this season, he’s averaging 17.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists.

Forward OG Anunoby was also unavailable for the Raptors on the second night of their back-to-back. Anunoby recently missed 10 games with a strained left calf.
