Report: Nuggets finalizing deal to acquire JaVale McGee from Cavaliers

The Denver Nuggets are finalizing a deal to acquire centre JaVale McGee from the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski added that Isaiah Hartenstein and two future second-round picks will head back to Cleveland. The picks are Denver’s 2023 second (protected through No. 46) and 2027 second (unprotected).

McGee, 33, is a three time NBA champ — twice with the Golden State Warriors, as well as last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is set to hit free agency this off-season.

In 33 games (one start) for the Cavaliers, McGee has averaged eight points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 15.2 minutes.

Hartenstein, a 2017 second-rounder, is a centre averaging 3.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 30 games (zero starts) with Denver this season.
