Report: Panthers to release starting safety Tre Boston

The Carolina Panthers are making a change on defense by releasing starting safety Tre Boston, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Releasing Boston will clear around $3.5 million in cash, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The 28-year-old was third on the Panthers with 95 tackles last season. He also had one interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, three tackles for a loss and two quarterback hits.

Boston spent five seasons with the Panthers, with his first stint from 2014-16 and his second from 2019-20. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers.
