Tom Brady provides an update on surgically repaired knee

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has an injury update on his repaired knee.

Tom Brady was seen wearing a knee sleeve during the Tampa Bay BuccaneersSuper Bowl LV championship parade. He has provided an update on how the recovery post-op is going.

Brady spoke with ESPN’s Jenna Laine during head coach Bruce Arians’ Family Foundation gala on Sunday.

“Yeah, I hope so. I hope so. I feel pretty good, and I push myself pretty hard,” said Brady. “I feel pretty good. I don’t know if I could go this week, but we’ll see how things play out. It’s a long time between now and the beginning of the season, and just be smart about all these different things that we have to do and fulfill; but we all take a lot of pride in being ready to go, and I’m sure we will be.”

“It’s good, it’s good. It’s good progress. It’s rehab. None of that is fun, but looking forward to getting back to real training and stuff, which is hopefully here pretty soon. … I’m cool with it. It’s just part of what you deal with. Things come up. You deal with them the best way you can, with the best opportunity to improve. I’m definitely feeling a lot better than I did six or seven weeks ago.”

Tom Brady expects to be ready for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by minicamp

What is important in understanding Brady’s surgery and recovery is that this procedure was something he had set out to do several months ago. While it is more of a clean-up than anything, Brady did just complete his age-43 season out of Michigan. Though the plan is to play through his age-45 season, Father Time will eventually win out, no matter how good of a fight Brady puts up.

Since the Buccaneers are one of several NFL teams that will not be taking part in in-person voluntary organized team actives this spring, the earliest we could see Brady back on the gridiron could be for mandatory minicamp in June, assuming teams are even going to hold minicamp. The good news for Brady and the Buccaneers is we are a long way away from September right now.

As long as Brady is good to go by Labor Day, then the Buccaneers will have a shot at repeating.
