WWE Hall of Fame: William Shatner set to enter WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020

William Shatner to enter WWE Hall of Fame: WWE Hall of Fame 2020 class gained a lot of star power with the announcement of William Shatner, the iconic showbiz personality made famous by his portrayal of ‘Captain Kirk’ in Star Trek series, set to be inducted this year.

Apart from wrestling icons, the WWE Hall of Fame also includes celebrities from other walks of life who have made appearances on the company’s programming or been part of its storylines. Even former US President Donald Trump was inducted into this esteemed class.

Shatner’s most famous on-screen role remains that of Captain James T Kirk, who leads the expedition of USS Enterprise in the famous television series. However, the veteran actor was also popular for his performances in the TV series Boston Legal as well as T.J. Hooker.

Shatner is part of the Class of 2020 but would still be inducted this year due to peculiar reasons. The ceremony will take place on April 6.

Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hall of Fame ceremony, which traditionally takes place in the week or weekend of Wrestlemania, could not be held. As a result, the Class of 2020 will also be inducted on the same night as the Class of 2021.

The 90-year old actor made his first appearance in WWE as far back as 1995 on an episode of Monday Night Raw and ended up in a scuffle with Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. He then made another appearance the very next week and even assaulted Road Dogg while being on the ringside for a match between Bret Hart and Jeff Jarrett.

His next foray into WWE programming came more than a decade later in 2007, this time in to induct his one-time on-screen opponent Jerry Lawler into the Hall of Fame. He again appeared on Raw in 2010, this time as a host.

Shatner will be joining other famous superstars in the Class of 2020. These include John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield or JBL, The British Bulldog, Bella Twins, and the iconic stable New World Order (NWO) which includes ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2021, which will also get inducted alongside, has big names like The Great Khali, Rob Van Dam, Molly Holly, Kane, and Eric Bischoff.
